Bracing

Non-invasive bracing systems, the installation and inspection of non-damaging bracing systems, which restrict the movement of the branches or stems within the canopy of the tree to reduce the risk of failure during high winds.

Our preferred bracing system is Cobra as it is not particularly noticeable within the crown of the tree due to the size and colour. The polypropylene rope acts to limit the range of movement of stems and branches within the crown, whilst allowing the natural sway of the stems under light to moderate winds. This natural movement stimulates additional wood fibre production, continually thickening the timber above and below the point at which the brace is installed.

It is recommended that the braces are visually inspected every 12-24 months during routine inspection, the braces are if correctly installed safe to use for a period of up to 12 years.
